I’ve been showing videos of Quidditch to the roommates all day. I’ve just been saying I was “going on trip” when I disappear all weekend to attend some Quidditch function or another then came the “you went to Florida for the weekend?” question. It does sound a little ridiculous from the outside. I…

s-e-ge0rge asked: Alex, why don't you just do a "State-of-the-IQA" address in video form? You know, kind of like what the president does. How about you just record yourself explaining the new prices/everything in an understandable way? I hate seeing people being SO hostile against the IQA. I was interested in starting a new team, and I just want the info straight-forward.
downthetardis asked: Hi, I don't play quidditch, but I'm friends with the team at my school and I travel with them sometimes and drive people to games, things of that nature. I noticed there's a lot of people upset about the new membership plan and I was just wondering why the IQA didn't do a kick starter. They're generally successful and people seem more willing to pay for things if...
Talk to me about the new membership plan
Hi everyone,
As you may have already seen this weekend, the IQA has released it’s new membership program. Players have indicated loudly and clearly this year that they want quidditch to be treated more like a real sport, so the first step we are taking in that direction is setting up our membership plan and price like other sports leagues.
I know that some players have some questions or...

Today, the IQA released our Membership Program for the 2013-2014 season. We’ve had a lot of questions from players, on social media and via email, about the details of this program and what it means for their teams. We’ve been busy compiling these questions into an FAQ, which will be released…
Email to teams before the 2008 World Cup
Alicia Radford just sent this out to IQA directors. I am so impressed that she could dig it up!

Keep up the international support!
Pictured: the Milano Meneghins Quidditch Team of Italy. (Friggn Italy!! They are trying to come to the World Cup. Amazeballs!)
Yesterday the IQA ROCKED IT and raised more than a thousand extra dollars for the international teams traveling to World Cup. However, sending a sports team to another country costs mucho dinero, and all of our international teams still need to raise more galleons to...
Putting the I in IQA
One of the main things that has kept me in Quidditch for 8 years now is the joy of sharing the sport with others.
And the act of sharing the sport has no greater success - or challenge - than the spreading of the sport across borders, oceans, and even languages.
When we made the switch from “intercollegiate” to “international” in 2010, it was to expand the scope of...

Adventure Planning Woes: Quidditch World Cup VI
fattyftw:
In April, I’ll be traveling to Kissimmee, FL, with family & friends. After falling in love-at-first-spectate with Muggle Quidditch in New York last year (I impulsively purchased a Weekend Pass for QWC V when I saw something about it), I knew I had to go to the next World Cup as well. I’m really fantastically fucking excited for this event.
Muggle Quidditch, when played well, is...

Sorry this took so long to write it started out as one thing but turned into something else.
Amen! My question is why does there even have to be this divide? It seems to me that we are planning to sacrifice all that is great and good in this sport to be taken “seriously.” That we are trying to appease those who mock us. I say let them because if you look...

Tackling Form and Drills with Coach BearTrain
pourmywhiskeyina:
Alrighty! This is about 1,000 words of my view on safe and effective tackling. This is by no means the official view of the IQA and it may not align with what you believe is best.
Tackling is the one of the most awe-inspiring and concussion-inducing aspects of quidditch. It’s every captain or coach’s job to whittle it down to just awe-inspiring.

Quidditch is just no longer fun. I like all the new people playing this year, and even some of the old people, but all the captains care about is winning. When I first joined last year, winning was important, but we had fun too. Now, all anyone does is fight. Yelling at people to get better so…
